67 body/91 frame swap
I Have a 1967 suburban project I am about to start on,that is putting it on a 91 suburban frame. Has any one done this? If so what problems will I run into? Is the frame going to be compatable?? I think I have seen a finished project of the same caliber on here.any help or advise will be welcomed

Maaaajor frame differences... Someone else will undoubtedly have to chime in as I have never done this. However, I'm fairly positive it will be a bigger PITA than it's worth.

what is the problem with the stock 67 frame? if both are 4x4's.....just graft in the front and rear chassis components. if both are 2wd.....just swap in the 91 front brakes. the 2wd's on this era are awesome with their race car rear end. a sway bar and poly bushings on the trailing arm and track bar is all that's needed to make it perfect. i think leaf springs are ugly, but gm decided to go cheap after '72

It is 4x4,and I am hoping to be able to get more driveability,the thought has crossed my mind to swap the drivetrain onto the older frame,but the springs are wider,and I think the frames are as well.I was just hoping to run across someone that has already swapped frames and get a few pointers.I havent started anything yet so anything is still open!

there is a TON less fabrication involved just moving some spring perches over than trying to adapt the frame. the stock frame fits correctly, the 91 frame wouldn't look right unless you tweaked it to nearly resemble the 67 frame anyway.

I was thinking about swapping the frames. I am going to see what's involved when I get back from California. Not sure which way I am going to go, but I am going to use the power train and interior for sure. |

I like your 'burb,GMC have always looked better to me.how difficult do you suppose putting rear seats that fold down out of a 91 suburban will be? |

I think the seats will involve minimal fabrication. I need to fab a panel for the side latches, and then some brackets to mount the stops. We will know pretty soon! She is getting kicked into high gear when I get back from Cali!
