Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
Put in a electric fuel pump with a hidden switch. Engine isn't going to run with out gas.
The only other way they will steal it is with a tow truck. And that is hard to stop.

Could pull the distributor rotor, chain the frame to a pole.
Park it in a well lit area. |

Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
Here's what I use on my fiberglass dune buggy - run a wire from the hot wire on the dist to a loud horn with a well hidden toggle switch. If any juice goes to the ignition the horn goes off unless the toggle is switched off. Even if they hot wire it, it will go off if you wire things right. Of course, it still won't stop the tow off...........

Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
In my limited experience, turning off the gas feed has been the best for me. My Jeep has a toggle switch in line to the fuel pump, the couple of times the brain trust in this area have tried to steal it, it just turns over and over and over - the noise of the engine actually gets more attention than an alarm would. If it is next to your room - you will know instantly what is going on.
Your wife does have an excellent idea though - a thief would probably look at - and take your other three wheels. |

3-on-the-tree. Very few people know how to drive it anymore.
3-on-the-tree with worn linkage. Even if you know the pattern, you might not make the one-two shift. On a more serious note - I have a ball-valve in my fuel line. When shut off, the truck will start and go about a block before the bowl is dry.

Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
Take a road flare and lay it on the seat with 2 little wires that go to somewhere under the dash. Stuff the removeable end of the road flare into the cushion.
That way it looks like a stick of dynamite with the fuse wired to the ignition! Plus the other real stuff. A big chain with a big Master lock through the wheel around the lower control arm will keep the wheel from rolling very far. Even if theives remove the wheel the chain is still inside the spindle. Hope it doesn't rain before you have to take it off. |

Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
Its not unreasonable to drive it in a day. A long day but still a day. I have driven from Dallas to Georgia many times in under 16 hours. Even Oklahoma to Georgia on occasion. The drive is not bad. Depending on which way you go the Rainbow casino just outside of Vicksburg Miss on I20 is a good half way point. Plus they have a blackjack table that has a 21 plus 3 game where you play a 3 card poker hand off your cards and the dealer up card. It pays 9 to 1. I usually cover my whole trip by stopping there.

Re: Anti-Theft Measures?
When I worked on the road servicing rolling stock at Home Depot stores, I kept a driveway monitor in the trailer and kept the receiver beside the bed in my motel room. Any time you even opened the door of the trailer the receiver would let you know. These things are fairly cheap (25.00 range), and battery powered so they are very portable and easy to set up. The unit is basically a motion sensor. Another thing is, it does not see through glass, so setting one in the floorboard of your truck will not pick up someone just wqlking by your truck. The reason I know this is because I keep this monitor in my glass cased gun cabinet at home. When the door is closed, you can stand in front of the door and make all the movement you want, but open the door and it lets you know real fast.
