60 "Eyebrow" hood

Will non eyebrow hoods fit on a 60 truck? I am not a huge fan of the eyebrow hoods at all. I may be able to pick up a 60 stepside for $500 with running 6 cyl. but out of truck. Some of the usual rust but thought it was a good deal. Thanks

Yes, the hood will drop right on. BUT you need to make sure that you have the correct hood latch. The design changed "I think" in 63 to a slightly offset latch. Other know how to explain this a little better than me.

Re: 60 "Eyebrow" hood

Actually the latch changed with the hood design in 1962. On the 60-61 hood the release lever points down and is accessed via the gap at the bottom of the hood. On the 62-66 design the handle points toward the driver side and is reached through the rectangular opening on the front of the hood. Just make sure the hood you pick comes with the correct latch.

Re: 60 "Eyebrow" hood

If the factory hood on the '60 you are prospecting is in good shape you can more than pay for the truck by finding the right buyer for it. I was trying to locate one for a customer and he ended up finding one and having it shipped to him. He paid almost $700.00 for the hood and another $200.00 to have it crated and shipped to him, via dedicate truck line. Obviously, you need to find the right buyed, but most of them were removed long ago and they are rather hard to find, not to mention, seemingly, fewer owners of the '60-'66 Chevy trucks "love them up very much".

I sold one locally for $375.00, so they do fetch a decent price, if you are patient and find the right buyer. Also, being reasonable with your price, is rather important, but I think $400.00-$500.00 is the range for a nice-to-very nice condition '60-'61 hood will go for.

Good luck and let us know if you pull the trigger on the purchase.
