Re: GV overdrive salvage question?
I remember a few members on here had found them. I can actually believe one being found in the junkyard for cheap, especially if they priced it as a tailshaft because they didn't know what they had. Best bet is to look under all trucks, but don't rule out motorhomes and conversion vans either.
It gets tricky though because every application requires a different adapter you might get lucky and find one with the right adapter for your transmission. You can get new ones, but Gear Vendors is VERY VERY tight about this. Before they even talk to you, you need a valid serial number. You have to send your old one back, and you have to pay a high price on top of that. They do this so you cant just get the older british versions for cheap and buy their adapter. They want to keep their product exclusive. Though I have seen someone on ebay that was selling these adapters outright for reasonable prices. It looked like he was having the GV adapters cloned. Might be something to look into if you find a GV for cheap but need a different adapter. I found all this out when looking for a cheap and cost effective overdrive that would hold some power. I found out there is no such thing unless you get lucky.
