Blower Motor Switch
I have had my 76 K10 for about 6 months now, an until recently i thought the blower motor switch was broken somehow because the blower motor always stayed on. The truck is factory heater only, and I have learned about GM's design of these heater systems to keep the blower motor on for "cab ventilation" or whatever they claim.
Anyways, I have since discovered that 73 & 74 Chevy vans have a heater switch that has an Off mode on it, so it has off, low, medium, and high. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a switch from one of the vans into a pickup to have the option of turning the blower motor off? From pictures I have seen the van switch appears to be the same as the pickup switches, it just has one more contact. The only reason this appeals to me is because I am not wanting to have to put in a toggle switch to be able to turn the blower motor off. If anyone has some ideas about this that would be great.

Re: Blower Motor Switch
I guess what people do is disconnect the yellow wire at the blower resistor. So if you somehow tied that yellow wire into the extra terminal on the van blower switch, it should work?
I'm interested in how this one turns out |

Re: Blower Motor Switch
What happens when you disconnect the yellow wire at the resistor?

Re: Blower Motor Switch
It turns off the lowest speed.
I'm pretty sure it was the yellow wire anyway. |
