Removal of drip rails
Has any one removed the drip rails from their trucks. I was looking at mine over the doors and above the windshield and wondering if it could be done. Would this compromise the integrity of the roof. If it has been done how did you do it.

I have seen it done a few times. Grinder or a plasma cutter then a grinder. They have no support purpose simply to reroute water.
You doing a full shave? |

that was what i wanted to do with my project but decided not to. (Wife talked me out of it) Was going to do the front rear bumper delete, cowl fill, gas tank delete, drip rail, pinch points under the cab, and shave the tail gate and mirrors, door handles.

I believe there is an article on drip rail removal in a sport truck magazine. Try a search. It seems easy enough after you have instructions. But it does take some time. One thing to remember is in the front you will retain a ridge/ledge that is very obvious. Im sure there are a few build threads that have done it.

Just cut about 6-10" at a time, tack weld that section, move on, then after it's all tacked together fill in between the tacks with more tack welds making sure to move along the length of it and not stay in one spot so the heat can stay down.

Personally I like the ledge left at the front because it keeps the body line accross the top of the door but there have been others that have smoothed them completely...

I've heard that its not too hard, its just time consuming. Like stated above work in small sections to keep the heat down. There are multiple layers of metal and you just grind it down in small sections then tack it up. good luck and post up some pics to show all us how it goes.

Im going to get me a cab and go crazy on removing the drip rail and finishing the firewall and non needed items. I also like the rear cab finish piece scotts makes... I want a totally clean sano cab done!

Sorry, should have clarified better....the yellow cab is from project Lemon drop that LFD did with Juggernot on here. I think Lemon drop is the name of the color but here is the build thread. I was showing a cab with the front drip rail roofline completely changed like Ackattack did on his
