what oils to use.
whats the oil of choice for a 65 chev c20. Wanting to change tranny(4spd) oil and diff oil. what weight oils? synthetic? as far as i know the drivetrain is original with at least 100,000miles on it.

You can switch to a synthetic if you want although some may be concerned with seepage/leaking from an old unit. I currently use Redline MTL in my SM420 and it greatly improved the smoothness during shifting..
Which ever you do I highly recommend taking it for a long drive to get get both the trans and rear end up to temp and immediately drain them while still hot (remember hot oil pours easier than cold oil). There is nothing wrong with refilling using a quality 90wt gear oil either. |

I ended up using Royal Purple for both my Manual Trans and my Rear Differental in my 62 ... I don't remember the weight but it made a big difference ...
