Horn Wiring?
While driving down the road today some idiot in a honda element cut me off after nearly side swiping me, and in my attempt to blow my horn at him i reminded myself how the horn doesn't work. I have looked in 3 different repair manuals for my 76, and none of them show a wiring diagram for the horn, or even mention where the horn relay is. The horn button in the steering wheel is all complete and both horns are present with wires running from them to the firewall. So my question is where is the horn relay? and do the wires from the horn button run straight to the relay?
Any info about this would be a huge help.

Re: Horn Wiring?
This isn't much help, but it's all I have... I have the factory wiring diagram for a '78 and it shows a horn relay with a dark green wire to the horn(s), a red one with 12v on it and a black one to the horn button. No note on location of the relay itself. If noone else posts anything, I'll look tommorow on my 78 (it's a six so I should be able to see it) when it is light out.

Re: Horn Wiring?
One of the non-working items on my 85 C-30 was the horn. My first priority to get passed in the required safety lane for this state was to get it working.
After messing with the oem with no luck, horn relay, steering wheel, etc., it turned out the horns themselves were rusted out. Yet even with a new horn relay and horn, the button on the wheel failed. To fix this quickly: $20 for a horn kit at the local auto parts store. To get the safety sticker I initially wire-tied the horn button on the column. Since then, while cleaning up the wiring and the interior I come up with the idea to install this aftermarket horn button in the lower left corner of the floor. Basically it now is located and used, when needed, like the old headlight flashers that once were located in the floor of vehicles (for those who can remember that far back! ) Might be an alternative cheaper and easier for now than the other option. Re: Horn Wiring?
Yep, hangs out of the harness right in front of the fuse box. You should be able (with an ohmeter) to see a ground coming on the black wire from the button. Should be 12v all the time on the red, and if you jump 12v to the dark green (mine looks violet) the horn should sound.

Re: Horn Wiring?
So i found the relay, it was very obvious but somehow i missed it when i first looked. All wiring for the horns is good, but the relay doesn't work. So then i used a jumper wire to bypass the relay, and still nothing. After doing this i pulled the horns out and connected them straight to the battery and neither of them work. So now i need to find the best deal on a set of OEM horns.

Re: Horn Wiring?
When my horn doesn't work I use my 357mag. It gets the point across real well.
