Looking for feedback....

By now many of you have installed our Rocker Box Reinforcement plates, Blazer "B" Pillar patches, and Blazer rear Floor Supports. They all worked well on our test Blazer, but I would like to know how they fair in the field. Pictures of them installed would be great also. Feedback goes a long way toward product development at our shop. So lets have some... WES

Buy the way, here are a couple of pictures of one of our latest parts... It is the right & left step down areas that are prone to rust also.

Re: Looking for feedback....

Here's a pic of my right side installed. Please excuse the ugly welds... I had a huge gap to fill since my cut wasn't exactly exact.

Only thing I had to do was to trim the bottom of the rear floor support where it meets the reinforcement plate so that it would slide over the torsion box. I'd say that everything else lined up great.

Great pics 1949gmc. Do you happen to heve one that shows where you had to trim it? (would be helpfull) If not, maybe someone else that has experienced this will chime in.

We have been in discussion with one of our suppliers on this very issue. Lets just say the book isn't closed on it yet. However for now you will need to modify short bed fleetside bedsides for now. WES

Re: Looking for feedback....

No, I didn't take a pic of the piece post-trimming, but I marked on your pic where I had to cut. It was just about an inch, maybe a little more, of the very front edge just below where it bolts to the reinforcement plate.

Re: Looking for feedback....

Wes, first your parts and customer service are excellent.

Your always friendly and answer questions quickly. Like, "I didn't find my invoice in the box?", your reply was "I usually stick them on the outside of the box, did you look?", my response "crap, didn't even look there because I was too eager to get to the parts inside".

Anyway, I have used your rocker box reinforcement plate for my pass. side. Sorry no pics, I'm not very good about that. But fit etc. was excellent. Only suggestion would be to have the nuts welded on (You may have addressed this already since the one I bought was one of the first ones I think.)

Keep up the great work. I know it is alot of work and expense for you to get these items reproduced. Thanks

Re: Looking for feedback....

1949gmc, Thanks again for your responce. Your input is of great value. I will have to look at our original part to see what it looks like. The one that I have here at this shop is rusted away in that area. By the way,,,, I am the king of ugly welds..

Thanks for your kind words. We pourposely left the welded nuts off of the parts for 2 reasons. 1st reason is they lend themselves to a little more flexibillity when installing them and the other was to keep some of the expences down, making the part a little more affordible.
The thinking on that was once you installed the part and got it all bolted in, a spot weld on the bolt you use would hold it from there on. However if we got a weld nut off lets say 1/16", you would have installation problems. WES

Re: Looking for feedback....

I also had to trim on both sides to have them clear the torsion box...

I took a few pix of it - but didn't have it in my build post - didn't know I had a picture of it until I looked today.

It wasn't much to trim up - just a little bit.

Exactly. It took, like, 5 seconds to trim up. Not a big deal at all.

Re: Looking for feedback....

Thanks for the pics lks dcvn. Between you and 1949gmc I now have it picture in my mind what needs to be done and I will be removing an inch from the lower flange. I think that that cut was left out because the metal is cut with a large shear and it adds a little time to the part to cut that section out seperately. I will be looking into a way to do it quickly and easely.
Are there any other concerns? Pictures? WES
