Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

I'll be there that friday with my father and a couple friends. I'll be there to buy, and will have a list with me. I am going to try and make a list beforehand and post it, that way I can maximize the chances that a boardmember will have it there :-D

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

I plan on driving my 71 there if I get it done in time. I live about 1hr away. I may end up needing bedsides if mine turn out to be unrepairable. Maybe I'll see you there!

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

I will be coming over from the UK for this event. going to New york for 4 days then driving to Carlisle for the swapmeet on Thursday and Friday.
This will be my first time so any tips for this event would be appreciated.
Would really like to know how much extra time to allow to get parked up, do I need to get there early to miss the traffic or is parking up pretty quick?
Cheers
Rich

You will have a good time. Parking is not to bad, traffic is constant, just be prepared to walk a lot. If you know what vendors you want to see, get a map of vendor sites. Saves lots of time walking. Be prepared to be overwhelmed with everything automotive.

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

What is the best event to go to Carlisle to get parts for a 67-72? The spring, GM or Truck show?

I live 45 minutes from there... are you looking for aftermarket or OEM parts? The only problem with the Spring and Fall show's are they are so HUUUUGE. YOu literally have to walk every inch of the 82 acres because you'll have Camaro, Mustang, Truck vendors all mixed together...

The truck show is smaller, you can park inside the fairgrounds and drive through to pick up your big parts. Nearly all of the swap meet area is truck parts and it makes it easy... Plan on spending 2-3 full days if you want to see everything at the spring show... 1-2 days for the truck show.

If I get my RV roof done I might try to get two spots this year, then I can hang out, sell my RV (hopefully) and hold a board meet.

I have a google map on parking, I prefer the National Guard armory but it will fill up by 10AM usually.

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

I 100% agree with msgross about the spring madness. It's over crowed and overwhelming. If your a GM truck guy, your time will best be spent attending the all GM, or trucks only events. IMO, trucks and all GM are better events than the spring , summer, fall events.

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

The all GM swap sucks,As far as I`m concerned. It isn`t even all GM stuff and not nearly the great GM only vendor quality found at the Spring show. The sring show is the best all around show. The car corral is full of amazing cars fresh out for the new season. There are as many truck vendors there,if not more than the truck show. It`s all sellin`,no showin'.
I set up at both.In spring I`m in the far back corner by the interstate behind the big hill behind the car corral and it`s a mini Carlisle.More like the original swap meet than Chinese tool vendors and big outfits you can mail order any time of year from.I always end up with a gathering of members for a mini-meet,so stop on by.I`m on spaces NW58-60.If you know any old Tonka/pressed steel collectors, let`em know I have the motherload,as well as other various vehicle toys from Hot Wheels to whatever collectible.67-72 GM truck parts as well,of course.

Re: Spring Carlisle Can't Wait!!!!!!

I'll be there friday to check things out. Will have to make it down to see you guys again this year. I collect Tonkas, but won't be buying any this year. Need to be saving the cash since I just bought a new car. Got a couple I am considering selling myself.

Can't wait. Will have to start making my list of what I need need for the truck so I can spend the money I do have wisely.
