cam choices?
so i am having troubles maybe thinkin i have a flat lobe on my cam.. what would be a great cam and lifters to give me that loping sound where it cuts it off and makes it sound like dying and what not

Are you aware that you can't "just replace" a bad cam and put it back together? The entire engine must be removed, stripped and cleaned. The particles from the "flat cam" and the mating lifter will have spread through everything. The oil filter cannot handle that kind of volume and will begin to by-pass.
If you just R&R the cam and lifters, it will fail again.

well my theory is i have a bad rocker and a bent rod from mis timing.. so fix the head and maybe cam and lifters if thats the problem

Rebuild engine!!?? I had a 77 stepside back in HS with a bad cam. Replaced it and beat the you know what out if it for 4 years. Ran when i sold it.

engine only has about 15,000 miles on it.. so its almost im thinking something just came loose.. but i think im running hydraulic lifters

if i'm gonna change out a valvetrain......it will be full roller and on a truck it will be nothing but an RV grind. i want smooth idle, tons of vacuum for the brakes and awesome throttle response and max low end torque so i can enjoy it on the street. in a "car" not towing anything, something a bit more peaky would be fun!
