Axle flip kit

I am new to here and am looking into dropping the truck. I'm trying to do it low buck and somewhat old school. If i went with a flip kit do I need to c-notch the frame? The truck will probably never actually have anything in the bed as it will only be a toy for crusing around. Is there anyway to get a 4 inch drop without installing new leaf springs? I would like to do a 4 inch drop better then a 5 with the flip kit.
