I've been on the fence about selling my 4L80E for a glide in my truck just because I don't drive it a ton on the street any more and always in the search for weight. But then again, if might go slower with a 1.8x first gear.

For a DD, I'd want an OD with lock up verter. If it takes $2k to get a 700 to work, then you might be ahead getting a used stock 80E and buying a controller for it. These 80E's are strong!! Also remember, it isn't HP that breaks transmissions, it's TQ and heat.

im suprised your the only one besides me in this thread thats pushing the 4L80E, im using baumann controller on my trans.

whats the price on a controller for the 4l80E, and is there a differance between one say from GM versus aftermarket?
