I should probably know, But i don't, Ive owned my 72 K5 for 5 years and it's only had the one top, so how can you tell if it is a single wall or double wall top? i never even knew there were different tops till i joined this site,

Easiest way to tell is to look at the bolts that hold the top onto the bedsides.

If the bolts go down into the bedside you have a single wall.

If the bolts go up into the top from under the bed railing you have a double wall.

Another way to tell is if you have lights mounted to your top on near the rear side window.

If you have a 72 and it's the stock top, it's likely a single wall.

Thanks you guys are great, now if anybody asks i can tell them i have a single wall top, and act like i know something, Thanks again for the info..

p.s clos69, what are the long stainless pieces laying in the back on the lower pic? i have a couple of these lying around myself

A lot of people like the single wall best because the bolts go down into the bed sides. If you have interior side panels in the cargo area you can install and remove the top without removing your side panels.

People also argue that single walls are noticeably lighter.......I doubt that based on their construction but I've never lifted a single off a truck before.

Quieter.....haven't heard that comparison before but I would think a dbl would be quieter if at all.

If I didn't have side panels or never planned to take the top off, I would go with a double wall, just because I think it looks better on the inside.

Actually, the easiest way to tell the difference is if it has dome lights.
No Dome lights = double wall
dome lights = singlewall

The biggest issue i have seen with double wall tops is the warpage. Single wall tops don't seem to warp as bad if at all.
