Factory Service Manual 1987 Sierra Classic

I have been wanting one for some fixes that I have no idea how to perform (simple stuff like starters, etc) but wanted to see what you guys thought.

I would like the best detailed...but Chilton and Haynes are ok too. What is the opinion.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Re: Factory Service Manual 1987 Sierra Classic

Was asking a similar question a while back. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=393297

Found a Haynes and a Motors manual. While the Motors manual shares other vehicles inside its cover it also is detailed on these trucks.

Still looking for an oem factory service manual for 1985, ebay is about the only option, for a price I want to spend. Eventually i will break down and spend what the market asks for one.

Good Luck!

Here is where I got the manuals for my '85 and '96. A bit spendy, but well worth the money.

Re: Factory Service Manual 1987 Sierra Classic

Anyone have opinions, (like that is something lacking around here! ), on using an older service manual for a newer model?

Reason for this inquiry: It appears, at least in my case having an '85', Chevy did the '82-85's without any real mechanical changes. Would a '82-84' manual basically be the same? Would an '81' manual be the same?

For some reason the older manuals are often cheaper. Thinking about purchasing an earlier model service manual; one in particular today. I have learned the value of having 'the book'.

Here is the source for this info that I discovered as a resource even before I bought this truck. (I tend to research a lot!)

Thought it best to ask in case I am w-r-o-n-g.
