the twilight truck, or red 63 long step the search is on.....

my wife is a huge twilight fan, and asked me today if I owned any 63 chevy trucks.
I told her I have 2, "which ones" she asked... well there is the k20 4wd flatbed, and then there is the tan long fleet parts truck....
"no,no those arent what I want , I want a red one like bella has"

Well, I have been paitently watching craigslist locally for a 63 long fleet bbw, non custom trim truck for myself-for a future project.
Now I gues I will be searching craigslist for a 63 long step sbw, custom cab trim, and red, and automatic, as well!

I have always been a big fan of movie cars too. Someday I would like to get a '73 Blazer and paint it yellow and white with "Amity Police" on the side...

And I thought that movie was only for high school teenage girls. I think they were selling that same truck for over 10 grand not too long ago.

I am sick of that idiotic "teenage angst" piece of crap garbage and everything associated with it! That said, if your wife is a real Twilight fan then she should know that the movie should have had a '53 instead of a '63. Check the book. Just sayin'.

That truck was purchased for a high-school girl here in the DFW area. She's apparently a big collector of the movie stuff & her dad bought her the truck as a gift. She was going to use it for 'special appearances' community service type activities (looks good on your college app's & doing things for the community @ the same time).

If they had used a 53 I might never have watched the movie. I've seen it at least a dozen times since my wife told me there was a 63 stepside in it, but admit I lose all interest after the truck scenes. My grand daughter thinks my truck is cool now since it's almost like the one in the movie (to a pre-teen girl anyway).

Re: the twilight truck, or red 63 long step the search is on.....

Yeah my wife's obsessed with that whole series. I was plesantly surprised when I saw a '63 in the twilight movie, but I thought it was odd that it had the CC trim and was a long step. I don't understand why the sold it off when there is 3 more movies to make. Then they built 2 more for the rest of the movies.....as seen in your last pic Jon.

Good luck finding a '63 long step Jon. If I find something over this way I'll let you know.

yeah she informed me about that too... I'm kinda glad they did a 63 though,I dont care for the ad's too much....

one of the funnier lines in the movie is when the guy is explaining to her that she will have to "double clutch" it to shiftI am pretty sure even the 47-54's had synchros, but definately all of the 60-66's have 'em...

Yeah I laughed when I heard that too. Some of the stuff they come up with in the movies......

Re: the twilight truck, or red 63 long step the search is on.....

Some of you may remember my user ID when searching for parts for my wifes 63.....and now you know what I was building. Since we are good friends with the people that own the movie truck we paid a visit and got hundreds of reference pics for our replica of the movie truck. I had to rush it a bit as our truck was used for a live broadcast where 2 of the cast members were doing interviews so I still have some 'weathering' to finish, but you get the idea:

Excellent. It must be fun having a movie car, or a clone. I'll bet your popularity has gone up with all the girls in the neighborhood between the ages of 10 to 50!

nice change max.
I found a pic of when you got it....

I found a 63 long fleet for my wife as well, I have already changed it to a long step, I have a bit of parts searching to do, and its blue, so I am almost thinking a rattle can red paint job might make it look just right...
I have been informed that it has to be done for the eclipse release in june

Well this truck is truly my wifes so she's the popular one. I've only driven it a couple of times to make sure all was working well and both times I laid down 75+ feet of rubber from both wheels so she prefers that I don't drive it that much.

jonzcustomshop: you got a great base truck there!! Please keep me posted via e-mail (doug@twilighttruck.com)

For those interested in the history of the trucks used in the movie, I'll be adding all the info on my website and I'll post a link here when it's done.

I have a 1962 Longbed Stepside. Do you guys think if I cloned it out to the twilight truck I could get more money for it than if I just did a proper restoration?

You should have her watch Bullit, Two-Lane Blacktop, Vanishing Point, and a few others. You could clean up!
