FOUND!!!! Short wide bed
Well, I found Chevy a short wide bed. Surface rust on right rear panel and a few small dents but nothing bad and no rust through anywhere. Under side is in excellent shape. $400 including tailgate that has some dents. I feel fortunate after the respones I got from others on the board about what the market price is for these unicorn-like items in various parts of the country.

$400 for a good short fleetside bed is a good price anywhere in the country. I live in the southeast and don't have the rust problems here like up north but that still isn't a bad price IMHO.

good find, short fleet's are getting harder to find and higher to pay for.

Nice score. I paid $600 for mine a year back and it was nearly mint. Taken down to bare metal and primed for paint. Came with tailgate as well...Try getting something like a SWB fleetside bed in decent shape when you live in the northeast where we put salt on the roads in the winter. It's nothing to see 10 year old trucks in the junkyard rotted to pieces. Must be nice to be one of you western boys!!!!
