Before I cut it out!

Guy's my truck came with 3 speed trans with a bellhousing mount trans. I'm going with a 454 with a munice but want to use a blowproof bellhousing. Will I be ok if I cut the bellhousing mount out and go to a rear crossmember mount on the trans? thanks
