Need some help with a 2 speed axle

Just picked up a 68 C60 grain truck, 350, 4spd, 2spd rear, having trouble getting the rear to shift, have power all the way into the shift motor on both wires ( depending on switch position), but she doesnt do a thing. I'm thinking i'm missing a ground wire on the rear end somewhere, or did they ground through the rear end/frame somehow? Hoping someone with some 2 spd knowledge will chime in. BTW its is the 2 wire motor, not the newer style 3 wire.

Re: Need some help with a 2 speed axle

If I remember my bus right, it grounds through the rear end. However, the limit switch was shot when I bought it, so I could only shift into LO. I could shift into HI if I reversed the wires. Obviously that would only work while parked with the shifter assembly removed & grounded directly to the battery.

I found a limit switch in a salvage yard V60, and the bus shifted fine after that.

Can you shift it at all if you reverse the wires?

How about the switch inside the shifter mechanism on the rear end? That's the one that was shot on my bus.
