Upper Steering Column Beareing

Anyone know where the best place to get the upper steering column bearing would be? LMC says they dont have them, I read a post on here saying that the one from brothers was poor quality, and another post which implied that the bearing is part of the turn signal assembly. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Re: Upper Steering Column Beareing

I just talked to Tony Smith (Lilred66, 4-5-6-trucks) about this on Friday 04-09-2010. I am in need of the upper bearing also, as well as a upper bonnet and secondary bonnet (column housing pieces).

Tony stated that the upper bearing indeed does come with the turn signal switch, but we were talking about a Chevy, not a GMC.

LMC lists a different P/N for the GMC 36-0603. The Chevy P/N is 36-0604. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cbe/full.aspx?Page=88

Classic Parts has a color picture that shows the bearing in place for their Chevy switch P/N 53-508 http://www.classicparts.com/1964-66-...ctinfo/53-508/

You might want to give Tony a call, he can probably set you up with the right information.

Re: Upper Steering Column Beareing

That's the one I have in my 65 Chevy. I too was not impressed, pretty whimpy, don't ya think?

And it mounts in the turn signal plastic switch mechanism... I guess I just expected something mounted to a steel sleeve, not plastic.
