Took the '60 camping....

Hey guys, I have been super busy lately and haven't been around much on the site, but I made sure to have some time for myself this weekend and took the Jimmy and my '54 Aloha out camping. Here are some pics: The first one is at the Astoria Column in Astoria, Oregon.

Re: Took the '60 camping....

Hey nice pictures .. I went to the top of that column on a windy /rainy day and it was not a pretty sight at all. I do not care for heights . Astoria is beautiful and so is your new camper. looks good!!!
Thanks again for your service in the Coast Guard. That channel is a treacherous place when it storms.

Your travel photos are always inspiring. Great photographic memories to go along with all the questions and attention you must get at each stop.

Grumpy - I don't think I have seen any of your campers but I'd love to.

GGinferno - I'd definitely get a tear drop! Vintage camping is a way to combine two of my favorite things in the world to do.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Now I just need to prep and get some paint on the camper....

Paint?!? Oh-no! Buff that thing out or leave it just the way it is. Painting that camper is a CRIME! Almost as bad as getting a jump-start from a Ferd. I'd like to see some inside pix of that camper as well. I take it that you converted it to 12 volt. I have had my eye on a new Serro-Scotty Highlander for several years now, but the economy isn't helping me to acquire it at the moment. Sleeps 4, Bath with shower, AC, nuker, stove, fridge. Perfect size for hauling. And is the only modern camper that truly looks vintage. Change out the taillights for some round ones and it's perfection.

Re: Took the '60 camping....

Ok. I didnt wanna hi-jack your post, but since ya asked...haha

We've had several. I dont even have pics of 3 of them. Lost them in computer crash.

The red & white 64 Shasta was 5-6 years ago.
The we sold it to buy the 62 Avion, to which we never got finished and sold....

Then we went through a few Scottys, including the 61 Silverside. It was a semi-rare never painted from factory Scotty.

The we bought a 61 Yellowstone, which is what I had til last fall, and was forced to sell due to job loss.
It was really rare.

Then heres pics of some of my club buddys and their canned-hams too.

Re: Took the '60 camping....

You guys must attract alot of attention at the campsites. I imagine you must get approached all the time from people with comments of yesteryear.

Very cool and kinda inspiring.

Thats the "city-folk" way to cut firewood!!

We have great fun when we get together for these hotrod camp weekends.
We do about 3-4 weekends a year at certain shows.

And Cort, I agree. Polish that baby...

We're searching right now for a "smokin deal". I feel terrbile for having to sell the Yellowstone last fall due to money issues.
We're still broke, but looking for a cheapie to let my wife do her thing.
