What would you guys do?

Just to be fair I will post this in the 73-87 forum

So I have a truck dilemma:

I had dumped a ton of money into a 70 SWB 2wd that was super clean from the getgo and all it needed was paint. Then one day whild driving home the LT1 I swapped in blew up. I needed money to get my house and there was no way I was going to be able to put a motor in it so I sold the truck for $5500.

I have kicked myself since the day I sold it. In the meanwhile I have picked up a couple other trucks that have come and gone, most recent is an 85 SWB 2WD that I really like. Here is what it has.

350/700r
CPP drop spindles
Ebach springs
Flip kit
10 bolt open
crap wheels
worn interior
unknown mile motor that runs great

Well low and behold I see the 70 today in front of a shop for sale, identical to how it was when I sold it except now it has a new crate motor and a 700r. Its gone 10k miles since I sold it. He will take no less then $7300 for it. It stilll needs paint but the body is just as good as the day it left.

Here is what the 70 has.

CPP 6lug discs and drop spindles
CPP rear springs and adjustable track bar
Corbins dash with 6 autometer gauges
newer carpet
new seat
newer weather stripping
custom 17" billet wheels
12 bolt with auburn locker
350/700r
newer glass
newer radiator
newer booster and master
newer tank
newer led lights
newer floors, cab corners and rockers.
ect.

So here is the dilemma, I can only have one truck. Do I pass on the 70, put the money I would spend on the 70 into the 85 or sell the 85 for what I am into it and bite the bullet and my savings to get the 70?

Thanks for the help,

Terry

Re: What would you guys do?

I say since you already have a 69 then keep the 85 just for the variety. and I'm not just being biased because I have a 85 myself lol

my idea is in this economy if you have any kind of inkling that work could get slow, keep what you have,. If you really want the 69 go for it but now you know what you have and youve been there done that with the older truck

Re: What would you guys do?

Thats a hard one We all know the 67-72's bring a lot more money than the 73-87's & they always will because of # 1 there were a lot less made & they will always be older. Keep the 85 & fix it the way you want as you have funds to do so if you are really pinched for money right now. But for a future investment if anyway you can afford it get the 70 back . I have a 84 swb & really like it but the 67-72's are the most sought after & Iactually like them better , but when it comes down to dollars & cents , you can do so much more to a 73-87 for much less money & still have a head turner.
