Re: transmission fit

it should bolt up to the motor fine but youll have to make/find a cross member for it, get a different drive shaft, re-do your shift linkage, and get something for the speedo.. i think its electronic on those

Re: transmission fit

That is just a bolt on.

If that's too much work then it might be easier to teach your wife to drive a stick.

Re: transmission fit

a three speed automatic will be simpler with the speedo but you will have to hook up the kickdown cable, speedo, driveshaft and the crossmember

which isnt bad considering they came with a th350.. you can find every nut abd bolt you need on a donor truck.. the 700r4 is a good trans, and better on gas, but harder to hook up.if i were switching it from manual to auto, id go the simpler route unless you take it on the e-way for long periods of time.. jmho

Re: transmission fit

I think putting a 700r4 would be the same amout of work. If you have one it would be cheaper. But you would have to check if it has a mechanical speedo or an electric one. So start hitting up the local yards and find the pieces you need... Its not too bad of a task

LOL!! I'm with Keith, teach her how to drive a stick. No busted knuckles, no fitting this and that, ect. Tell her it's a good skill to aquire. God forbid, at some point in time someone's life may depend on it. Same with firearms, love 'em or hate 'em, learn to use them just the same. Jim

God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: transmission fit

you would need to source a cooler to go with it too. Even if it's just done by swapping a radiator from the same "donor" truck.

But, I would still have to agree with Keith and James, everyone should know how to drive a stick......and swim.
Whether you use these skills regularly or not, they can save a life.....maybe your own.

Re: transmission fit

Are you sure you want her to drive it? You will not get it back!
