80 Suburban parts truck

Picking up a 1980 Suburban today so I can swap my 66 to 5 lug. What else can I use on from this to put in my truck.

Can I use the Steering Column? Seats?

The steering column can work. It isn't the best fit but it isn't bad. The seats might, but there again they aren't the best fit for your '66. The seatbelts should work. Of course you can use the steering as well as the brake system. You may be able to use the fuel tank depending on what size it is. Some of the Suburbans had 40 gal tanks that are rather large. You might be able to use things such as the cruise and A/C depending on how ambitious you are. There are also a lot of little things with the wiring and whatnot that could come in handy.

Re: 80 Suburban parts truck

thanks. the previous owner had already pulled the steering column off and seat isn't any better than mine. I pulled the rear end off of it and the front crossmember. What do I need to do to adapt the front suspension to the 66 steering box is it a simple bolt on?

If you're keeping the '66 manual steering box, it should bolt up to the '80 drag link. I know that a power steering box will bolt up to a '63-'66 draglink, so it should work the other way. You don't want to convert to power steering?

When I drop a V8 I will convert it to power steering. I'm keeping the steering box for later.
