Big Block Brackets and A/C?

Does anyone have a nice pic of what the stock A/C compressor setup should look like on my 78 454? I'm familiar with small blocks but this is my first big boy and I'm feeling a little lost for knowledge.

Re: Big Block Brackets and A/C?

Nobody has a Big Block with A/C? I searched as well but didn't turn anything up.

Yeah, but that's the "heater" option here in Texas.

I also would like to see a pic, I'm guessing my '79 should be the same.

Re: Big Block Brackets and A/C?

if you have v-belts you could start over with a set of serpentine belt brackets off of a 88-92 sbc camaro/trans am.. requires a little bit of modding, some 3/8 aluminum plate and your set. I did that on my 87 and used f-body a/c hoses, everything for the a/c was factory 87.

Re: Big Block Brackets and A/C?

Thanks guys, I don't think I am wanting to get that involved with it at the moment. The truck is (at the moment) just an old beater but I plan to drive it quite a bit for work purposes. I might just go get a v-belt Sanden compressor and make my own brackets. Here are a couple pics of the brackets that are currently there. I know I am missing a couple parts, but I haven't figured out exactly what...yet.

Re: Big Block Brackets and A/C?

Hopefully, this will help you out a bit.

It's from a '76 3/4ton where I pulled the motor out and re-worked it for my '87. I used the big pictures so you could blow them up and get good detail.

Good Luck.

Kenny
