What would you do?

I have a 1964 Chevy 3/4 ton Flatbed with the stock crappy single reservoir drum brakes and hydraulic clutch. It has a granny 4 speed which I would like to keep in it. A few years back I bought a complete 1973 front cross member out of the bone yard with all the suspension and 8 lug disc brakes. I was told it was a bolt in for my 64. Is this true? After looking at the "60-66 body's on newer frames" thread I was wondering if it would just make more sense to drop the cab and front clip onto a newer chassis instead? What do you guys think?

Re: What would you do?

I haven't read the thread you are referring to so I can't give an opinion there. You need to determine what your gains will be if you do the swap versus just changing the crossmember. I can tell you that swapping the later crossmember is pretty straight forward and will give you modern disc breaks and better bushings.

Unless you need a new frame, I would stick with what you have.

This one.
I'll just swap that cross member in then if it's no big deal. What do I do for the master? I have a 73 C20 2wd parts truck.
