Public Apology to John Fabris

I want to publicly apologize to John Fabris.

I had arranged to meet with him on some parts he had for sale and backed out because of time constraints. I was looking forward to meeting with him and, also, seeing his truck which is definitely one of my favorites.

I pride myself on being an honest person and was upset to see that, before I had a chance to apologize, he posted a "Bad Deal" thread about our deal. I haven't had a lot of dealings with members on this board, mostly because of my "northern" location, but I would hope anyone who has dealt with me would not feel the same way. The worst part of the whole thing is that I screwed up his plans with his son. Money is one thing but family is another and it is that I feel the worse about.

I will let you read the post for yourselves...

Again, and I can't say it enough... I am sorry John. I hope you can see your way to forgiving me.

Geoff.

I read both postings, what I don't understand is why you didn't show at all? If you're going to be late, fine, the "damage" was done, but why didn't you show up at all?

We had a 1500 mile drive to get home and stopping at John's would have probably added 2+ hours to our trip. As I have said, I don't have any excuses, I just felt overwhelmed at the time.

I stand by my offer to pay for the parts I committed to buy. He questioned my integrity in his post and I want to be clear... I am an honest person, I committed to meeting with him to buy the parts so I will pay for them.

I applaud you for apologizing and offering to buy the parts. It takes guts and maturity to admit and apologize. I can understand both sides but kudos to you.

Re: Public Apology to John Fabris

Not really sure why this is being aired out on the board. If we have problems with another member, are we supposed to expose them in this manner? Guess he felt like he didn't want someone else to get "burned" if that's what you want to call it. If I was John, I'd be damned pissed if that happened. I've had that happen enough with craigslist dealings that I just about beg people to call me if they can't make an appointment. Stuff still happens. Takes a big man though to admit when he messed up regardless of the reason. Lots of chicken sheet people out there that wouldn't take the time to do that so it's time to move on........

Time is so precious.....let's protect ours and others the best we can!

Re: Public Apology to John Fabris

I don't blame John for being mad and he was just airing out his fustration in a section of the board meant just for that and to look out for fellow board members. That said kudos to you for being man enough to admit you did him wrong waisting his time and apoligizing.

Hey,

Kudos for being a good guy about this, and apologizing.

You are both good guys from what I have known of you on the forums, you didn't show and judging by the thread John posted he kinda went over the line a bit with the attack on you. Oh well, the one good thing is that these trucks bring us all back to a common bond or friendship in some strange way

We all have a little 67-72 in our blood!

Re: Public Apology to John Fabris

I consider this a closed issue with no ill feelings for C10-Driver. I did post my experience and feelings in the Review section of which I have edited my post as C10-Driver did have a lot going on and sent me a PM with a heart felt apology.

Re: Public Apology to John Fabris

Thanks John... I have learned a lesson from this and will be a lot more careful in the future about making commitments to someone on one of these "parts" trips. There never seems to be enough time to get everything done and I always wish I had more time.

I hope I can make it down some time in the future to see you. I was really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your truck... It's one of my favorites. I will make sure that next time you are my first stop.

Edit: Administrators, could you please close this thread... I accomplished what I wanted which is to apologize to John and he has replied. Thanks.

i've been "stood up" quite a few times in my day, but anyone who's got the guts to apologize for it is o.k. in my book.

Wow....I didn't even know there was a "bad deals" section to this board. It makes a lot more sense now why it was posted John!

Re: Public Apology to John Fabris

i just think this goes to show the quality of people on this board! i have been dealing with people on this board for a a number of years now & i can honestly say that i have never had a bad dealing. i believe that i would trust a member on hear way before i would trust a local person from say craigslists/ebay. i think it is cool that he felt obligated & comfortable enough to do this.....just my little $0.02
