Powder Coated 69 Grill Question

I have heard people say that the powder coating oxidizes in fairly short order. Does anyone know if there is a UV protective coating that you can use to keep the grill from Oxidizing? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Thanks for the info. The guy I talked with said it was a problem with this particular color of coating but you may be right. It cost buck and a quarter to get this thing done so maybe it is the good stuff!!! Maybe I should have ponied up and got it Chromed. Oh Well.

Re: Powder Coated 69 Grill Question

If your choice of powder is succeptable to UV damage, just have the coater apply a UV protectant clear top coat. All powder supply houses offer UV protectant topcoats. Your guy should be able to get one for you.

Tx Firefighter,
I talked with the guy that powder coated it and he told me he did apply the UV coating on it and if it fades within 3 years he would redo it for free. So that answered my question and I know where to take it if it does fade. Thanks for the info. I didn't know there was such a thing as UV protective coatings for Powder Coating. Learn something new every day.
