Speaker recommendations
I'm starting to price out and figure out what I want for a stereo in my 68.
I'm planning on making some kick panel speaker mounts Then in place of the gas tank, make an insert that holds a sub (8" or 10"...need advice here), amp, and 2 rear speakers. So what is a good brand/size for the speakers and sub I figure the sub enclosure will be fairly small, and fairly shallow.

Re: Speaker recommendations
For everything, I would run Pioneer (except the amp). Some Pioneer 6.5" components, a 12" sub, and a pair of 6x9's in the rear corners. I'd run an Audison Lrx 3.1k but that amp is like $1200
Realistically, the Kicker ZX550.3 will do nicely, providing plenty of power to the mids/highs and enough to the sub to get something respectable out of it. Component Speakers 6x9's I wrote the above thinking that this was the best, reasonably priced option, my actual recommendation would be to run a nicer set of components in the kick panels and to not even run the 6x9's. I would also run a much better amp like the Arc Audio KS900.6 or Audison Lrx3.1k (or 5.1k if I were to go active). If you can drop the extra coin and want to keep everything uniform as far as a brand, then JL Audio builds the best shallow sub yet, has an awesome amp with the HD900.5, and a solid set of components with the CS-650

Re: Speaker recommendations
Ordered a pair of Pioneers TS-D1720C and a retrosound radio.
I decided to go ahead and start off with that just to get some tunes, and upgrade later when I get more money. Thanks for the recommendation. |
