Blo-in smoke blues

When I start my in-line 6 I get blue smoke from the tail pipe, clouds of it but within a few short minutes smoke disappears and motor runs fine. My thought is that this is a valve guide issue but was wondering if anyone had any other thoughts. To my knowledge this motor has not been rebuilt. Thanks in advanve for all /any help.............Kirby

Re: Blo-in smoke blues

You could try replacing the valve seals. This can be done with the head still on the engine.
You could also check to see if your drain back holes in the head are clear allowing oil to go back to the pan.
