*LS/GenIII swappers* A/C part numbers inside
I put together a list of parts needed if you are swapping to a GenIII/LS style engine and wish to retain the LS's A/C compressor in it's original location without notching the frame. I also threw in some part numbers of other things like the condenser, accumulator, etc in case you either need to or want to replace those.
I got the system charged today and it works awesome, so if this is the way you are planning/wanting to go, it works great! Keep in mind - the misc part numbers for things like the condenser, accumulator, and so forth are specific to my 85; however, they will most likely be the same for 81-87. 73-80 will almost definitely have different part numbers. If you are doing this on a 73-80, confirm the fitting sizes on the receiver dryer/accumulator, evaporator and the condenser before ordering your fittings.

Re: *LS/GenIII swappers* A/C part numbers inside
Everything was original to the truck (albeit new replacement parts) except the compressor (came with the 5.3) and the hoses (I made those). The compressor mounts to the 5.3L just as it did in the donor vehicle.
Note in the pic the trans cooler lines are running out underneath the A/C idler pulley. Those have been rerouted inside the frame rail using SS braided hose. The steel lines were getting pinched right there.

Great work again Bob. Maybe this should be a sticky, just a thought.

Yea i think there should be an lsx swap sticky. So we can condense all the information in all these build threads.

Thealien has done a LOT of work in a thread he started, compiling tons of links and other info on the swaps. If it isn't already in the FAQ section, it should be. I'll see about putting this list in that thread too, and check on the FAQ part of it too.

Why in the @#$#@ would engineers move the compressor down by the frame?

Re: *LS/GenIII swappers* A/C part numbers inside
I imagine it was to keep the lines down low and out of the way, and most likely so they could run the A/C on it's own belt off the crank pulley. That way if the compressor locks up, it's not going to shred the serpentine belt and leave you stranded.
