Camper top resto/questions

Before I can get the truck into its new home (see my other thread!) I need to get the camper shell thats currently in the way sorted out so it can be fitted to the truck. I found it on UK ebay last year and after some ebay bidding, a few quid and a 400 odd mile round trip up to the east coast of scotland it was mine. It had been sat on the top of a shed 500 yards from the sea for years after coming off the previous owners 73-87 truck. The wood rails underneath that it sits on are pretty rotten and need replacing and the tailgate needs some work but otherwise its basically sound. Not easy things to find over here so I'm happy with it.

I flipped it over yesterday now that its finally now under cover so I can look at replacing the wood rails that run around the bottom that it will sit on. They are very rotten with a large assortment of wildlife living in them so all three sides need new wood fitting.

I'm intending to just rip the old wood out, clean it up, key the fibreglass and then glue new timber in place using a pU adhesive like Sikaflex or Tiger seal and a few screws through from above. I was thinking about giving the timber a few coats of fibreglass resin first to try and waterproof it. It'll then get a layer of closed cell foam stuck on it as a seal.

The tailgate needs some work as its sagged in the middle pulling the glass from the rubber at the top due to the old spring loaded lifters seizing. Those will be replacd with junkyard gas struts if I can find any the right length. I also need to make up a new locking mechanism as the old one is heavily rusted due to the salt air and new locking handles are needed.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a company that can sell me a set of clamps to attach it to the bed. I can't find any over here and don't know where to look. They will need to be willing to ship to the UK though.

Thanks
Phil
