worth it?
Stumbled across what I think is a hell of a deal tonight...and seller needs to get rid of it ASAP.
1976 2WD Blazer - lowered 4/5? - excellent running 350/350/12 bolt (ratio unknown) - sway bar - AC (blows cold!) - 88,000 orig miles - rally wheels - 98% rust free, 1 dent on the roof (tree?) - brand new dual exhaust out the sides behind rear wheels And most unique feature...it has woodgrain trim! (I like strange things!) The truck is un-molested and is what I would call a survivor...but the paint is faded and the woodgrain ia SLIGHTLY peeling in places...but still looks good IMO. The guy will take no less than $2100...I want it baaaaaaad, but need to do some creative financing. I can't quit thinking about it! Is it worth it based on what you have read so far? ...Jeff |

For a northern truck, sounds like a heck of a deal!

That's a good deal. The price of clean 2wd's are climbing. If it's as clean as you say, and NO RUST, then go for it.
Please don't pass on it, and announce it on here. I may have to take a look myself. BTW- Can you please take pics of it? I have seen very few trucks/Blazers with the woodgran insert. I can't find much info about what years it was available... BTW- I'm strange too. I like the woodgran insert too

I'd jump on it as well. A rust free northern 2wd blazer is rare indeed!!

Timspeed,
the woodgrain he is talking about runs down the side of the truck, like on the Jeep Grand Wagoneers of the mid 80's to early 90's. Makes it look like an old "Woody Wagon"(That's what people call my '88).

bigblock73,
If you should happen to buy this truck and want to replace the woodgrain, check out "phoenixgraphix.com" and "stencilsandstripes.com" they both carry replacement woodgrain. Phoenix sells 24inch x 40foot rolls for $300, and Stencils and Stripes sells 16inch x 30 foot rolls for $140. Hopefully yours will be 16 inches wide or less so you can buy the cheaper. They both carry 3 different styles- Marine Teak, Burma Oak, And Cherry Oak. Marine Teak matches my Grand Wagoneer, but I don't know what grain the Blazer would have. Hope this Helps!

Good Buy
If it is a "survivor" and hasn't been all cobbled up, and the sheetmetal is straight and rustfree, jump on it! Sounds like a heck of a deal. As for the rarity, they are getting hard to find, but not impossible. The rarity is in the fact that it is a 2WD chassis. You can always find another body to put on the frame. If you can't grab it, let us know. Gotta keep these alive!! Yes they make nice cruisers, with a drop and healthy drivetrain. That and not every body has one!

I personally would buy it for that. That is an EXCELLENT price.
Keep focused on the 73 though, don't make 2 projects for yourself..

LMN8R,
Thanks for the graphics sites, if I end up getting it I might purchase some...there is a bare spot on the pass door I might redo. I am going to keep this truck in "un-restored" condition and just make it look clean and drive it...kind of a "toy" while I finish up Yeller. Chris don't worry...I will not lose focus. BTW - I probably won't have the blazer too long, Once I finish my truck I am going to sell or trade it for a 3/4 ton 2WD long bed 73-80 for a tow rig/parts chaser....but that is at least a year and a half away. -Jeff |

The 73 is coming with me when I die!!! I am never going to sell it...too attached to it! Once you wrench on something soo long and spend that much time working on it/driving it....it becomes like a family member.

Good luck with it Jeff. You never know, you may like it so good, you don't want to sell it.
2wd blazers are very, very, cool, when fixed right.

I had a '77 2WD Blazer with worn-out 305, rebuilt TH350, 3.08 rear, and a rusted body. I was still able to get $1500 for it when I sold it.
Sounds like this one is in much better shape for not much more money.

Re-read my statement and wanted to clarify.. It is a possibility that I could purchase a equivelent pickup for your Blazer.
