Automatic to manual tranny question

Looking to change over my 91' gmc 4x4 with a 700r4 automatic transmission to a manual transmission. I'm pretty "green" and need any advice yall can give. Am I looking for a 700r4 manual tranny or some other make. Also is there any kits that would come with every thing i would need for this change out? Thanks for your help.

Re: Automatic to manual tranny question

for a is it a NBS 91 or still a "squarebody" 91... for nbs i think it would be specifically a nv4500. but for a small broad list. you'll need the correct manual trans. a heavy flywheel, clutch, clutch pedal assembly. clutch master cylinder and all the parts for the hydraulic clutch.. possibly a different transfer case to go with the correct manual transmission and most likely your driveshaft lengths will need to be changed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the sm465 available through 91 or so?

Re: Automatic to manual tranny question

I would get a donor truck with the drivetrain you want and swap it in, Part out the donor truck to help recover the cost.
