Door Hinges

I started putting a new door (got a nice one from Tony @ 4-5-6) on my 65 yesterday, when i took the old door off i found the hinges to be pretty beat but its just slop in the pin. What's everyone experience with the pin replacement kit vs. new hinges? I take it that these have bushings in them?

Thanks!

Chris

Re: Door Hinges

just get the new hinges. I pulled mine to fix and realized they rusted through.

Re: Door Hinges

Decent used hinges with the rebuild kit or new...either is a good choice. If possible, I always go with good, used stuff over reproduction, for obvious reasons. Glad to hear you received the door in good order and let me know if you need anything else in the future.

Re: Door Hinges

I rebuild and powdercoat hinges pretty often for ebay. It might just be regional, but I haven't ever had any issues just refurbishing old original hinges with new pins and bushing kits. They are quite sturdy so some media blasting and detailing makes them good for another 40 years.

Like Tony, I prefer original versus aftermarket every time.

Re: Door Hinges

Thanks! this is very helpful. I ordered the rebuild kits. My hinges dont look too bad just have too much slop in them.
