Simple Front Airbag Options
Are there any simple solutions to bag the front suspension on these trucks? I'm not looking to lay frame or anything, more looking for some adjust ability and a good ride. I don't want to have to modify the frame or make big changes to anything. Also don't want to spend big bucks on it. Am I out of line with my thoughts? What kits are available other than Ride Tech's stuff?

Re: Simple Front Airbag Options
The simplest thing you can do to get bags on the front of your truck with the least amount of work is the Ride Tech ShockWaves. You won't lay frame with them, but like you said, that's not a concern. It's not a concern of mine either, and so I have a pair on the front of my truck. I absolutely love them. They ride great and handle amazingly! But, they don't come without a price. I got lucky with mine and bought a set from a friend who decided not to use them on his truck, so I got them brand new for about $400 less than if I had been the original purchaser.
While maybe not so easy on the wallet, that's going to be about your easiest setup. |

Re: Simple Front Airbag Options
I honestly would love to go with the shockwaves I just can't talk myself into paying for them. I may give in. Do all of the bag/cup options require modification to the frame? Ones similar to the coolride systems. 1badgmc, so what's your suspension setup? Shockwaves and spindles? Yours is low enough for me! Thanks for the info.

Re: Simple Front Airbag Options
Yeah, even with ShockWaves you have to trim a little bit to clearance for the bags. That's standard fare for any air setup. But it's not like you have to go cutting out for tie rods and other stuff that you would need to lay completely out.
And yes, ShockWaves and 2" DJM spindles in the front. With my 245/35-19 tires, when it's aired all the way out, I can still slide my pinky between the top of the tire and the wheel tub, so I can actually still roll with it aired out without rubbing anything.

Re: Simple Front Airbag Options
That's cool. I don't mind a little modifications. I just don't want to get into tie clearances and big cut outs for the bags. The shockwaves sure seem like the way to go. I might watch some of the for sale sections on the boards.

Re: Simple Front Airbag Options
That was my mentality when I bagged it. If it laid out, that would have been great, but I wasn't willing to go cutting into my bed, removing my front inner fenders and all that jazz to do it. It looks, rides and handles great, so I'm more than happy with it.

K5Hart, I'm also in the market for bags-Shockwaves specifically-and I've just told myself that with all the other stuff I'm wanting to do I'll hold out for exactly what I want. Last edited by Blitz; 04-26-2010 at 09:48 PM. |
