C-20 front suspension swap?

I want to put the complete front suspension including the crossmember from a 75 C-20 in my 67 C-20. Are the frame widths the same and is this a direct bolt-in? Also, Does anyone know of any posts on how to do this? Thanks for any help.

Re: C-20 front suspension swap?

I used a '76 C20 for my '67, but it has been 5-6 years and I can't remember some of what I did.
I intended to change the entire crossmember, but changed my mind after I got the '67 crossmember out.

Crossmember;
The '67 has forged steel ears that bolt to the side of the frame rails. The '76 has thin stamped pieces and an extra piece sitting on the inside of the frame rail. The frame rail is sandwiched between the two. I liked the '67 with the forged ears better and added the extra inside piece from the '76. You probably already know that only some of the bolt holes line up and the others have to be elongated when changing the crossmember. Only my inside piece had to be fitted on mine.

Brake lines;
If you unbolt and take ALL the brake lines from the '75, it will make your job easier. The line to the rear has a union on the frame rail, under the cab on the passenger side on the '67 and the '76. Same location, same fitting on both years. The '67 has the brake line cross to the other side on the crossmember. The '76 uses the crossmember under the radiator and that is where the combination valve is located. One of the two holes for it is already there. These brake lines will route the flex lines on the opposite side of the A-arms for the calipers than from where the drum flex lines were.

A-arms;
I can't remember which A-arms I used. I picked the ones that had tight ball joints and I was lucky because they fit the disc spindles. Either the top ball joints or the bottom from the '67, fit the disc spindle and I can't remember which, but not both.

Springs;
My '67 has a 292 and the '76 had a 454 big fat springs. I kept the '67 springs.

Sway bar;
The '76 had a much bigger bar than the '67 so I used that.

MC and booster;
I used the '76 MC (new), but I don't like the booster that extends so far away from the firewall. I used a booster from a '70s Chevy van that is flush mounted to the firewall. That was the only part of the job that wasn't bolt up, and required some fabrication.
