Dumb Question of the day: Carb & Intake

I'm sorry before hand if this might look like a dumb question of the day.
But will a Holley squarebore throttleplate fit on a Edelbrock Performer 2101 or do I need some adapter for it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

I think the Edelbrock Performer 2101 is a spreadbore manifold, so you'll need an adapter. Someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

2101 is spreadbore... I have one under the Q-jet.

So yes, an adapter must be used with a squarebore Holley.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

My mistake -- it's been quite a few years, but I thought the primary ports were small, to match the Q-jet.

Maybe that was just the stock iron manifold. Maybe it's just my bad memory.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

On some performer manifold If I recall EDELBROCK says that sometime a thicker gasket might be needed to prevent a vaccum leak. Jim

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

Wrenchbender is correct, it is dual drilled for either spreadbore or square bore carburetors so a Holley with bolt straight on.

However, the plenum opening is shaped for the spreadbore...

so you need to run one of these under any square bore carb on one of these manifolds, whether Holley, Edlebrock carb or what have you...

It's just an aluminum plate that Edelbrock sells for under 10 bucks that assures the gasket seals properly over in irregular plenum opening to assure no vacuum leaks.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

Thanks guys!
I think I'm going for the 2701 intake, no need for adapters at all.

Re: Dumb Question of the day:

No there is no 2101 installed now so I'm just looking for which one to buy.
In that case the 2701 is the best option.

Thanks.
