New to the board with a new 83'

Hey everybody, great forum you guys have got going. I have been drooling over pictures for a couple of days. Thought I should stop in and introduce myself as I plan on spending alot of time on here. I live just outside of Oklahoma City. Noticed there were a few other OK boys on here as well.

I just bought this 83' shorty a few days ago. I actually bought it sight unseen because I am out working. My Dad went and looked it over for me. LOL. So I myself have only seen pics of it so far. It has a 350/350 setup and seems to be in decent enough shape for starting out. I have lots of plans for it. I eventually want to completely change the exterior and interior colors and lay it down with about a 5/7 drop. Then I was thinking about either putting 20" Coys all the way around or going with a 20/22 setup, just depends. Anyway here are some pics of the way it sits now.

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

I don't have any of the interior yet. My wife sent me one on my phone but she is suppose to email me some good ones later. It has some buckets out of a mid 90's ford that supposedly look terrible. I will be pulling those out right off the bat. I love bench seats in these trucks.

I have a black bench we pulled out of my Dad's 84 C20 that is in good shape. I will probably throw it in there till I decide what color interior I am going with. It has a brand new dash in it with billet trim. To be honest the inside needs some work. Lower dash looks like it has been spray bombed several times.

Definately a good looking truck from the outside...maybe the interior won't be as bad as you think.

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

Right now I am thinking about a forest green w/ tan interior. I like the color that is on it as well. I have a good friend that has a blue 84' and while it is a different color blue I want mine to be totally different than his.

I am pretty sure the wheels are American Racing and are 15x8. Not sure of the tire size. I will try to get that info for you though.

When I get ready to paint I really want to tear the truck completely apart and strip everything to bare metal. Start fresh. Taking all the wireing out and re-installing it is really intimidating to me though. I know several have done it though.

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

Really a nice blue --Ilike the green -tan combo as well , but consider 2 toning blue -silver . That would be different from your buddies & a lot less expensive to do than changing the color completely > only my 2 cents< . Of course im a little partial to 2 tone

HA, I have a 78 that looks almost just like that. It's blue, and I even have the same wheels! But my blue is faded and dented and the wheels are flaking.

That's torque! I don't know but would also assume on a slight grade.

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

I haven't got to see it yet but I actually ask my wife and father about the "lean" when I got the pics. They assured me it was a funny camera angle or something. They said it looks straight to them in person. We shall see....

Got some interior pics uploading as we speak...

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

OK, here are some interior shots. As I said it needs alot of work on the inside IMO. The door panels appear to be cheap replacement panels and it just needs alot of little stuff. The headliner is missing and a couple of the headliner trim pieces are as well.

Re: New to the board with a new 83'

The truck looks pretty good overall. It is WAY too high though. I think it would look great over those wheels with a 3/5 (or so) drop. As far as the door panels...They look pretty decent there.
