Trade my 81?

A guy I go to school with wrecked his 1999 z71 and said he would trade it to me for my 81 and $300.

The z71 needs the third door, probably a new bed, and he said the cab corners and rockers are going bad. He just replaced the rear end and transmission but the engine has about 212,000 on it.

I picked up the 81 last summer and don't really drive it very often. It needs rocker and cab corner work but is an overall clean truck. I also have enough parts to make another swb from this era if I wanted to.

I have my 05 swb regular cab as my daily driver, so if I traded, the 99 would be a bad weather and hauling truck.

I'm finishing up collision school in june, so I can fix and paint either one if I decide to.

Thanks for suggestions and input.

Re: Trade my 81?

My take - do you need 2 trucks? If not, what would the Z71 parts be worth if you did the trade and parted it out? You might make a few $$ that way. More demand for Z71 parts than the older vehicle?

Good, because of what your going to put into the new truck to get back in running order, you might as well dump that into the 81 and have a badass truck of your own.
