LQ9 and LS1
i was told an LS1 and LQ9 are basically the same engine. The LQ9 are cheaper to find as a pullout. If i want to go with this setup, what should i look out for? Are there other parts to buy? Anybody done this swap?

They are not. An LS1 is an all aluminum 346 C.I. motor that came in camaros, trans ams and vettes. The LQ9 is 364 C.I. cast iron block, aluminum heads and it came in trucks mostly. The LQ9 has more tq than the LS1 but stock for stock, will not turn as many rpm as the LS1. Personally, I would rather have the LS1.

They are the same in that they are from the same engine family (GEN III) which is 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2 and the big one 7.0. Also the LQ9 isn't that much more available than the LS1, it was only used in the sliverado SS and escalade. The LQ4 however is very available and cheaper.

The only downside to the LS1 is that you can't do more than a bore cleanup without sleeving the block $$$$
