Re: has anyone ever seen this done!!!!

the shims is that what your talking about...? the shims are added and removed for caster camber adjustments, they had to put an ass load of shim because it had negative camber.

They have nothing to do with the drop on the front other than re-aligning the front end, Looks like you will need to replace the upper control arm bushings soon too.

That's exactly right, When springs are cut or drop springs installed more shims are required to get the tires straight again.

Re: has anyone ever seen this done!!!!

Thats why I stretched my upper a arms. It would have taken 1 3\16 worth of shims to get the camber close.

Re: has anyone ever seen this done!!!!

The 77 short bed I have has a Mr. Gasket part that they used back in theday . It bolts on where those shims are and extends the a-arm outward . The original owner lowered it in the late 70's when there were no spindles. He said they made that piece to fix the upper a-arms on lowered trucks . He also flipped the rear and added helper springs to keep it from bottoming out . Pretty cutting edge for the time it was modified.

Nothing crazy about it at all, it looks normal. Especially for a truck that was probably lowered in the front by either heating the coils or cutting a coil. Mine looks almost identical. The large round metal shims closest to the frame are normal.

The only thing that looks off to me is that they appear to be body shims instead of alignment shims.

This is my stock 91 Suburban, not lowered:

Re: has anyone ever seen this done!!!!

I am going to guess that it rode like a brick. What puzzles me is the fenderliner cut out.
