Front Brake Caliper Stuck
Well driving the blazer today I started to fill a pull. Well by the time I got home the passenger side was nice and hot. I tried squeezing with channel locks and bleeder open, but no movement.
I am currently trying to let a little WD free it up. Any tricks? Its a 4wd with the dana 40. |

Edit: Oh, you mean to get it off, . You'll probably have to use a c-clamp to push the piston in far enough to get the caliper off.

Re: Front Brake Caliper Stuck
check the rubber brake line also.I have had 2 that started deteriorating on the inside and when you mashed the pedal it would force fluid by but when you let off the pedal the fluid could not back up.this will also cause the caliper to stay locked.

Re: Front Brake Caliper Stuck
If the bleeder was open would this still be the case? with bleeder open I can't get it too open up. Also I am unable to get it to close at all. I am certain with it off it should close more.

Re: Front Brake Caliper Stuck
shove a large screwdriver or prybar into the slotted hole in the top of the caliper, and pull it outwards. this will give you the leverage you need to get the piston to move in a little bit.

Re: Front Brake Caliper Stuck
Yeah I got it off and can not get the piston to go back in.I have tried using a big c clamp and also some really big channel locks. I am pretty certain I need a new one.

Re: Front Brake Caliper Stuck
I will seconed what "67/72junkie " said. When i change a caliper i also change the brake hose, you cannot see inside the hose to see if the hose is damaged. good luck
