Yes, the plan is to rechrome. I have heard the same thing, but have also seen it done too. Even if you are able to slightly see where the bolts were, it will still look better than 14 ugly carriage bolts heads on the bumpers.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Got some new rubber for the freshly painted wheels, cleaned the beauty rings and center caps, tossed on a set of lowering shackles (coming off tonight, not gonna hack my bed for that), finally got my seat and headliner back from the trim shop and installed. Got all the smog junk off and welded up the stock manifolds. I got a bit scared after having everything soaked in penetrating oil, then using a torch to get nut off, then mig'ing the holes, no fires though.
 Took the beast for a drive with my 7 year old, his first time "in the front seat", he was very excited. |

I've had a receiver hitch sitting on a shelf behind my shop for years, and I have no idea where I got it at or what it came off of. So I tried it on Fred and it fits great. I had to move the exhaust tips out a touch, but it fits fine. If I raise the cross tube up about 2", and flip it over, then add a hinge to the license plate, I will be able to hide it all behind the bumper. So I'll tackle that another weekend.
