Intro & Project: '81 C-10 Stepside

Hello. I've been lurking a bit trying to get ideas for my new project. I recently bought a 1981 C-10 Stepside and will be refurbishing it. I had a '81 when I was 16 (33 now), but my parents sold it because the firewall was rusting and it had 236000 miles. Therefore, I have been on the lookout for one in the last few months to refurb with my dad's help.

Below You will find a few pictures and a link to the whole album.

Basic Specs: 119,000 miles, Inline 6, AT, AC, Shortbed, new water pump, starter, and battery. The camper shell is coming off ASAP.

It had been in storage since 1994, so it is inoperative, but I had it delivered to the family mechanic for a once over. I plan to do most of the work myself, save major mechanical and body work.

Working on posting individual pictures, so here is a link to the album:

Re: Intro & Project: '81 C-10 Stepside

Update:

Finally got it back at the beginning of April. IT has stranded me on the side of the road 2 of 4 times it has been driven. The culprit was a bad fuel sending unit and a rusty, gunk-filled tank.

Repairs so far:

Rebuilt carb
new fuel pump
new tank
new fuel sending unit
new tires
new AC compressor

Transmission and engine operate smoothly.

Next Steps:

--Get gauges working properly
--Fix wiring in the cab. Somebody installed a crappy equalizer and speakers, as well as a dome light with exposed wiring.

Welcome! I like your project truck. It reminds me of my first truck, an 81 longbed with the same wheels, white bumpers and single light front end. Oh the memories...
