lq4 block what heads?
I am putting an lq4 into my 67 swb, and im curious as to what heads i will be able to put on it. I have the iron heads now and want aluminum ones. Will the l92's fit if i put a bigger cam in and no pistons w/reliefs. I have searched on line but found conflicting views on pistons w/ reliefs. Would i be better off getting a set of 317's? Anyone else know of any other heads/cam i can put in it to spice it up a bit. Thanx

Re: lq4 block what heads?
the l92 heads will fit it, you'll need a compatible intake tho...also the 317s are a good choice too....

Re: lq4 block what heads?
his current heads are identical to 317's besides material. Both will run fine on 87 with stock compression. So unless they are milled (then just go for 243's) stay with stock

Re: lq4 block what heads?
you could mill your heads or use 243's (ls2 or ls6, same ports as yours) to make more compression.

Re: lq4 block what heads?
If you milled your heads they would be the same as a 243. The only difference is the combustion chamber cc. I've got several sets of each if you are interested in just changing over to aluminum. If it were me, unless you were wanting to race it or go wild with it and make 450 + rwhp , I'd just do a cam swap and leave the heads on it you've got.

Re: lq4 block what heads?
Then order you a set of ported heads and a camshaft from Texas Speed or ant other LS warehouse and you should be good to go. $2k or less should cover everything you need for 450.
