Washer Fluid Resevoir and Pump

I just purchased a 69 C10. There is no washer fluid resevoir or pump. Can't find the pump on any wiring diagrams. Does anyone know if the truck originally came with an electric pump?

Re: Washer Fluid Resevoir and Pump

It's attached to the wiper motor up under the dash.

Re: Washer Fluid Resevoir and Pump

If you push your wiper switch, that actuates the pump. Does it make any noise? Like Red71C10 said, it in the dash, behind and to the left of where the radio goes. The reservoir should have a special bracket on the drivers side of the front near the radiator (over the voltage regulator and horn). You can get these brackets and reservoirs pretty cheap from various sources.

Found it, but unfortunately no noise. Does not look easy to replace that pump. Might just get an after market resevoir with pump and connect with the wire from the switch.

I don't think it's that hard (but I haven't done it). The new pump screws into the side of the wiper motor. I've got an aftermarket pump under the hood but I'm thinking of going back to stock setup.

Re: Washer Fluid Resevoir and Pump

My truck has avintage air system and I would have to take the ducting out to get to it. I just need it to pass out of province inspection. Never plan on filling it or using it.

Re: Washer Fluid Resevoir and Pump

An S10 bottle has a pump in the bottom and its bigger than the stock one. I haven't put the one I bought in yet, so I can't say how well it works...
