2500HD trans option

Do all the 2500HD 6.0L gas trucks come with the alison trans. or only the 4L80E?

Re: 2500HD trans option

I believe the 4L80E was the standard issue tranny on the gas engines in the 25/3500/HD trucks, and the Allison was an option. I believe the same goes for the diesels.

Re: 2500HD trans option

I believe the allison was the only trans that came with the diesels. Unless the 4l80e was an option, although I don't know why anyone would go that route.

Re: 2500HD trans option

As far as transmission availability in the 2500HD and 3500 trucks…...

Automatics
6.0L = 4L80E
8.1L = Allison
6.6L Diesel = Allison

Manuals
6.0L = NV4500
8.1L = ZF S6-650
6.6L Diesel = ZF S6-650

To make things confusing, the Suburban’s and G-vans with 8.1L engines only came with 4L80E transmissions. G-vans with Duramax engines also came with 4L80E’s. No Allison option for Subs or vans.

No sir. 2010 will be the first year for a 6.0L gas engine to be mated to an Allison and it won't be in a GM truck. It will in a Workhorse stripped chassis and Freightliner stripped chassis for big delivery vans like UPS trucks.
