Re: why are 4x4 duallys so hard to find?
Crewcab 4x4 duallys are a bit easier to find, but there don't seem to be as many regular cabs. Most of the single wheel 1 ton 4x4s I see are ex military.
I suppose that most of the 1 tons were purchased to do heavy hauling, and if you need 4x4 you probably are in the wrong place to be hauling a load that requires a 1 ton.

Probably also has to do with your area, climate, and conditions. There are lots of them around here, but I live in a farming community. I'm sure in drier climates or urban areas they would not be nearly as common, as 4wd was not needed.

Re: why are 4x4 duallys so hard to find?
I look for them to part out. I found a SRW reg cab the other day, and I think 2 dually reg cabs today.....Depends on the area. Here in the northeast, there is a bunch of them. Plowing is big here, the 1/2 and 3/4 tons don't hold up very well to rough plowing..

They were work trucks that have been beat to death.
Up here they run them until there is literally nothing left.

Yeah here in Kentucky there is always one crew crab dually 4x4 for sell on craigslist. But most are wore out and over priced the nice ones are like 5k up.But here there is a lot of duallies because all the farms they get used as a truck.

Re: why are 4x4 duallys so hard to find?
I imagine it's because many of them were purchased in snow country. Where a 4X4 is needed most. Since snow country is also salt country, many of them have rotted to a pile of dust by now.

Demand for Dana 60's could have put many to premature retirement too.
