Oil filter question

This is an odd question. I have '72 C30 402cid. I work her alot haulin scrap. The standard oil filter is too difficult to R/R because it's only 6". It gets lost up inside the filter cavity. I want to install a commercial type filter. The type that holds 2 qts. of oil. Like a Baldwin or Fleet brand. Does anyone know what the stock number is for a filter to fit this engine? Thanks.........

I ALWAYS LIKE TO USE THE WIX 2 QT. FILTERS ON ALL OF MY MOTORS. I'M NOT SURE OF THE PT.# , BUT WIX MAKES THE NAPA GOLD SERIES FILTERS ALSO. THE BAD NEWS IS THAT THEY COST ABOUT $12 INSTEAD OF THE $2.99 FRAM FILTERS AT WALMART. (YOU NEVER SEEM TO GET MORE THAN YOU PAY FOR WITH FILTERS) CUT A COUPLE OF THE CHEAP ONES APART WITH A PIPE CUTTER & THEN A WIX FILTER & DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. I'LL BET YOU NEVER USE ONE AGAIN. YOU'LL NEVER WEAR OUT THE OIL IN YOUR MOTOR, IT JUST GETS CONTAMINATED & DIRTY WITH CARBON. CLEAN OIL IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO AN ENGINES LONGEVITY. IT KEEPS ALL THOSE LITTLE PARTS SLIDING OFF OF EACH OTHER. JOHN

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question John. I'll do a search for Wix filters. I'm sure I'll be able to come up with a part #. Yeah you're correct about getting what you pay for. In order for mfg's. to get their products into volumn sellers like Wal-Mart, they MUST get their wholesale price down. Consequently, they have to find a way to lower the cost. The easiest way is by LOWERING THE QUALITY of the stock sold to a retailer such as Wal-Mart. That way they are able to make their mfg'ing margins and sell in volumn. I worked for a large tire mfg. years ago. That's exactly how it worked. That same brand tire was mfg'd. to differing quality standards depending on which retailer was purchasing it. ALL same brand products are NOT the same.

some napas even have a fram verses napa gold filter cut up example in a plastic case.
I did this myself quite a few years ago and was amazed at the lack of quality inside a fram.

Fram ph373 or Purolater L40084 are 2 qt filters that will work

I purchase my oil filters from NAPA, but I purchase them when the company runs a filter sale (Which is twice a year in my area). That puts the price in line with those Wallymort prices on the others and I have them in stock on my shelf,so I can change oil anytime that I want.

Thanks EVERYONE! I found a site: fleetfilter.com (sorry I can't figure out how to add hypertext). Anyway; on there they took many different brand filters and cut them open and compared them to the NAPA gold (made by Wix). Very interesting data. Yep.....ya git what ya pay for.

1060 , 1062 is what a lot of the bb's run for wix, well napa wix numbers same thing without a 4 in front of them.

NO OFFENCE INTENDED. YOU ARE PROBABLY THE EXCEPTION. USSUALLY WHEN A COUNTER KID IS LOOKING FOR ONE OF MY TRUCKS IN HIS COMPUTER I SAY... IT'S BLUE.. IF THAT HELPS. John, I totally agree with you on cutting the filters open. I work At a parts house and we Sell Wix and as soon as we cut open a AC Delco, Fram and a Wix. More people have been buying Wix. I wouldnt put a Fram Filter on my sisters car.
